Online Countdown Timer & Pomodoro Timer Online Free

Visual SVG ring countdown with quick-set presets and built-in Pomodoro mode (25 min focus / 5 min break). Audio alert when time is up.

How to use the VClock countdown timer

Step 1 Open the Timer tab Tap Timer in the navigation bar or press 4 on your keyboard.
Step 2 Choose a duration Tap a quick-set chip (1, 5, 10, 25 min…) or type any custom duration. For a Pomodoro session, tap the 25-min chip and you're ready to go.
Step 3 Watch the ring The animated SVG ring shrinks as time passes, giving you an instant visual sense of how much time remains without reading a number.
Step 4 Hear the alert When the timer reaches zero, a short chord synthesised by the Web Audio API plays automatically — no audio files, no permissions needed.

The Pomodoro Technique — 25 minutes at a time

The Pomodoro Technique is a time-management method built around focused 25-minute work blocks separated by 5-minute breaks. After every four blocks, take a longer 15–30 minute break. The method works because it converts an open-ended task into a series of concrete, time-boxed commitments — eliminating the paralysis of perfectionism and providing built-in rest before fatigue sets in.

VClock's timer includes a one-tap 25-minute Pomodoro preset. Start a session, put your phone face-down, and work until the chord plays. The visual ring means you never need to glance at a number to know roughly how much time is left.

Share a timer, or count down to a date

Press Copy share link to send a timer to someone else — handy for a class, a workout group, or a shared kitchen. The link carries the duration and an optional label, and opens ready to go; it never starts by itself. For something further away — an exam, a launch, a holiday — open Count down to a date, choose the date and time, and the page counts down in days, hours, minutes and seconds, following the real clock even if your laptop sleeps in between. There are ready-made countdowns to Christmas, New Year and Easter, too.

Other uses for a free online countdown timer

Beyond Pomodoro, a countdown timer is useful for cooking, classroom tests, meeting agendas, workout rest intervals, and presentation rehearsals. The quick-set presets cover the most common durations, and any custom value can be typed in seconds. No account needed — just open the tab and start counting.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an online countdown timer?

An online countdown timer counts down from a set duration to zero and plays an alert when it reaches zero. VClock's timer shows a visual SVG ring that shrinks as time passes.

Does VClock have a free Pomodoro timer online?

Yes. This page has a one-tap Pomodoro preset — 25 minutes of focused work, then a 5-minute break, with a 15-minute break after every four sessions. For study sessions the dedicated study timer is the better tool: it also offers a 50/10 cycle and keeps a 30-day log of your focused minutes.

What presets does the timer have?

Quick-set chips for 1, 3, 5, 10, 15, 25, 30, 45, and 60 minutes, plus the Pomodoro 25/5 preset. You can also type any custom duration.

Does the timer play a sound?

Yes. When the countdown reaches zero, VClock plays a short chord synthesised via the Web Audio API — no external audio files required.

Can I use a timer for studying?

Yes, and there is a tool built for it — the study timer runs the focus/break cycle for you and tracks your daily totals. Read our full study timer guide for more techniques.

Is there a free timer for teachers?

Yes — VClock is free to use with no sign-up. Teachers can set custom durations for tests, group activities, or classroom transitions.

Can I share a timer or count down to a date?

Yes. Type an optional label and press Copy share link to send the same duration to someone else — it opens ready to start and never starts on its own. To count down to a moment instead, open Count down to a date, pick the date and time, and share that link: it keeps counting across days and weeks.
